Sisal Board of Kenya

Kenya Sisal Board is a statutory organization of the government, established under the Sisal Industry Act, CAP 341 in 1946.  Its main purpose is to promote the welfare of the sisal industry as provided for in the Act.

Main Operations of Kenya Sisal Board

The main activities of the Board currently include:-
(a)  Sisal inspection and certification before export at the Kenya Sisal Board  
inspectorate unit in Mombasa

(b)  Regulation of the industry through registration and licensing of
decortication factories and marketing agents

(c)  Collaboration with institutions and organizations involved in research relevant
to the industry

(d)  Sisal extension especially in ASAL areas
